Medical MMI Practice day 2024
One of the goals of the RISE Foundation Leicestershire is to help young people in education and career guidance. RISE Foundation does it as a charitable cause and all money raised goes to the needed causes.
RISE is well known to conduct Medical Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) courses that guides students in Year 12 and 13 towards a medical career; the interview preparation courses are held twice every year and they have excellent feedback. Most of the candidates who attended have been successful in getting a place in Medical School. The course has mock scenarios that prepare for most of the stations that are commonly presented in the MMI interviews. Candidates have come from all over the country and have found it a very useful experience before their interviews.
Dr Thanthullu Vasu leads to course content and has prepared the questions; this has been extended to include all the volunteer examiners to collate the questions to prepare a very popular book published recently: Interviews for Medical School: Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) Practice (ISBN 978-1913755324, tfm Publishing Ltd, Shrewsbury). All the money raised by editorial activities goes to RISE charitable activities.
Dr Premkumar Sundaram and Dr Thiagarajan Sridhar will lead the practicalities of the MMI course for 2024. We are expecting more than 125 experienced examiner volunteers for 2024.
Various themes have been used in the mock stations including communication scenarios, role plays, ethical dilemmas, personal development stations, clinical stations, probity and personal characters, mathematical/ calculation stations, and non-clinical stations. Feedback given at the end of the stations have been very useful to these aspiring candidates.
Most of the examiners have extensive experience in running medical interviews; all these practising doctors have volunteered their time and efforts to help our charitable causes.
As the proceeds go for charitable causes, it is our policy not to refund money if there is a cancellation or non-attendance.
All the money raised through this course apart from expenses will be used for charitable causes led by RISE Foundation Leicestershire.
